Virtual Lab Training Checklist Instructions
After each training session, please complete the checklist assigned for that day. Each checklist is designed to build upon the previous one, ensuring steady progress through the program.
Completion of all three daily checklists is required to earn the Vates VMS Certification.
Please note:
- You can find the specific configuration settings for each day's checklist at Virtual Lab Technical Reference
- All checklists must be submitted no later than the Monday following your training.
Training environments are reset every Tuesday, and any incomplete work will be lost.

Day 1
- Create pool of 3 XCP-ng hosts (2 minimum).
- XOA VM deployed and up to date.
- Open a Support Tunnel under XOA > Support and provide the ID to your trainer.
- Create an NFS ISO Storage Repository (SR)
- At least one VM created and installed with the OS of your choice.
Day 2
- Create a NFS SR for VDI to store VMs
- Create a network with a custom vlan tag (10) attached to eth0.
- Add this new network as a second NIC in a VM.
- Configure the 2nd NIC of the pool (eth1) with DHCP.
- Create a Full/Delta backup job.
- Create a CR/DR backup job.
- Create one mirror backup job (use SMB settings in technical reference).
- Use smart backup with tags to select a VM for one of the Full/Delta/CR/DR jobs.
Day 3
- Configure the auth-ldap plugin to the local OpenLDAP server
- Configure OTP authentication for one user (default admin user is fine)
- Create one user, one group, and one ACL
- Create a resource set, assign a user or group to this resource set and create a VM with this user in the resource set using Self-Service
- Install & Create a VM via the Hub
- Configure load balancer plugins with a plan
- Configure perf alert and usage report plugins
- Enable netdata plugin and turn it one for at least one host (Host > Advanced > Enable Live Telemetry)
