•Backup speed:
The most impactful parameters for backup are:
• Latency between XOA and the host and from XOA to the remote.
• Hosts performances and resources.
• XOA
VM resources.
• Remote performance.
• Network speed does not impact backup speed a lot, unless you are very limited, because bottleneck is elsewhere.
Way to improve:
• Backup process is always going through XOA Pool > XOA > Remote so check that all your networks are set accordingly.
• Verify that you are using the right network for backup in Pool > Advanced.
• If you have backup jobs with multiple remotes, use a mirror job for the slower remote it will be more efficient.
• For delta backup test different level of VM concurrency / nbd concurrency.
• For full backup you can test compression backup will be slower but you will have less data to backup so overall performances can be better.
• Depending on the remote : test block storage (more files, more write, less copy, less data )
• Use a XOA
proxy.
• Add
resources to XOA VM.
• Add Ram to DOM0.
